What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Tempe Water Bill
The City of Tempe runs the Tempe Water department. Customers can find out more information on water and sewer rates, roach control and bill payment on the official website. How to Pay the Bill
Customers receiving services from Tempe Water can make bill payments online, by mail and with Sure Pay.
Pay online: You can pay your Tempe Water bill online at https://waterbills.tempe.gov/tem/Welcome.aspx. If you make your payment online, the payment may credit the following business day. This means payments made Friday night will not credit until Monday.
Pay at a drop box: The City of Tempe offers drop boxes for money order and personal check payments. It is advised not to make cash payments at the drop box.

How the Penalty Fees Work
Penalty fees are added to your account when payments are late or returned for insufficient funds.
- Late payment fee: 1% of the past due amount added to your current account balance.
- Suspension notice: $15 per notice sent.
- Service disconnection: Occurs 50 days after your due date – reconnection fees will apply to restart service.
- Service reconnection: Customers who pay the past due balance and all fees can schedule reconnection.
