What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Minnesota Power Bill

Minnesota Power is an electric company that serves more than 140,000 customers in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin. The service area is known for long, bitter winters so customers may notice higher heating bills during the coldest months. Working with customers to reduce energy bills is a crucial part of the services provided by Minnesota Power.

How to Pay the Bill

If your bill due date is quickly approaching, you need to contact the customer service department for advice on making quick payments. The customer service representative will note the account when payment is made to stop the collection and disconnection procedures, if applicable.

Pay at Walmart: Minnesota Power has worked out a deal with Walmart to make payment processing simple. Customers simply visit a MoneyCenter available in most Walmarts to make payment. Payments delivered within 3 business days are charged a fee of $0.88. If payment must be credited the following business day, the fee is increased to $1.88. You will need your Minnesota Power bill and payment method (cash or debit card with PIN) to make payment.

Pay at Western Union: Western Union offers various payment options for customers of Minnesota Power, including a recurring payment plan, one-time payment, and SpeedPay. There is a service charge of $3.50 added to your bill payment. The phone number for Western Union SpeedPay is 1-866-228-0739.

Pay at a drop box: You can drop your personal check or money order payment into one of the drop boxes located in Little Falls or Duluth, Minnesota. Visit the Drop Box Location page for more information.
