How the Penalty Fees Work

When utility payments are not received by the due date, many companies will charge late payments fees and other collection charges. This is the case for Flint Energies.

  • Late payment fee: A 5% charged will be added to your bill based on the past due balance if you are unable to make payment by the due date. If your payment is sent, but does not reach the company before the due date, the charge may appear on your next bill.
  • Trip fees: Charged when a service tech is dispatched to your home to collect payment or disconnect service.
  • Returned check fee: Charged when a payment is returned for insufficient funds or stopped payment.

I Can’t Make a Payment

Flint Energies reserves the right to disconnect service at any time after the disconnect date has passed. Customers are urged to contact customer service for a payment arrangement before receiving a disconnect notice. If power is disconnected, Flint Energies can require:

  • Full payment of the account balance plus fees
  • Security deposit
  • Reconnection charge

Flint Energies will work with customers to even out payments with the Levelized Billing program. Senior Citizens or disabled customers receiving only one check per month may adjust their due date to match the date when their income check is received.

Some Flint Energies customers may qualify for the LIHEAP Home Energy Assistance Program. The program is designed to help low-income families make energy bill payments during times of financial need.
