What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your CIBC Bill
CIBC is a banking institution in Canada. The bank offers online bill pay options for customers who want to cut down on the cost and time it takes to pay bills. The fastest way to find out more about CIBC bill pay is to log in to your account from the main page. If you don’t have an account with CIBC, contact the customer service department, open an account online or visit a local bank.
How to Pay the Bill
Before paying bills online, CIBC customers must register the bill for the first time. After logging into your account, click the Pay Bills button and choose Add/Review Payees. Simply follow the instructions to add the biller.
Pay online: You can pay your CIBC bills online at https://www.cibc.com/ca/personal.html. Remember to register your biller before attempting to schedule a payment.
Pay by telephone: The telephone number for CIBC bill pay is 1-800-465-2422 for English and 1-888-337-2422 for French. Simply follow the instructions to pay your bill. If you need to add a new biller, you can do so using these numbers as well.
Pay at a local branch: Local branches have the ability to add billers to your account and process bill payments for those billers. There may be a service charge for branch banking.

How the Penalty Fees Work
CIBC clearly lists all penalty fees associated with personal banking. Some of the fees assessed to customers with personal banking accounts include:
- Dishonored payment or returned payment: $42.50 each, in addition to any transaction fees if applicable.
- Stop payments: $12.50 if full details are provided to the bank. $20 if full details are not provided to the bank.
- Debit and other transactions outside Canada: 2.5% of the payment

Will They Work With Me to Pay My Bill?
CIBC will work with you to resolve problems with online bill pay. If a biller claims to have never received payment, CIBC will investigate the problem and resolve any issues with the company. They will not, however, help you pay past due bills or cover late payment charges if you schedule payments after the due date.
