What To Do When You Can’t Pay Your Bangor Hydro Bill

Bangor Hydro is an electric company providing service to central and eastern Maine. How To Pay The Bill

Bangor Hydro offers multiple ways to pay your bill such as, paperless e-billing and payment, in person payment, by phone, online, and by mail.

Paperless e-billing:Sign up online and receive your bills via email to pay online or with your checking account.

In person payments:Visit one of the payment center locationsnear you.

Pay by phone:Call customer service at: 1-800-499-6600 and follow the prompts. There may be a small fee for this service.

Pay online:You can make a one time payment by visiting online services at: http://www.bhe.com/bhepay/bhepay.cfm. You can also check with your bank to see if they offer online bill pay services, or consider using MyCheckFree to manage your online payments.

Pay by mail:Send check or money order to the following address:

Bangor Hydro mentions returned payment fees and collection charges in the Terms and Conditions, but no specific fees are listed. Further information is available from customer service at 1-800-499-6600.

How The Penalty Fees Work

Bangor Hydro does not list their penalty fees online and their customer service did not release this information to non customers. We speculate that you will have to pay a percentage of your bill as a late fee. It is possible you will have to pay a fee to have your service reconnected if it has been suspended for nonpayment. You may also have to pay a deposit to restore your service. You may have to pay a fee if your payment is returned by your bank.

I Can’t Make A Payment

Bangor Hydro will work with you to extend the payment due date if you let them know what is going on as soon as possible before the due date. If you qualify as low income, you may be eligible to receive a special discounted rate on your electric bill that will make it easier to pay.
