How to Pay Your Bill
Pay online: Customers can pay your Georgia Power bill online by visiting https://customerservice.southerncompany.com/Ebill/BillPay.aspx?mnuOpco=gpc&mnuType=res&nav=left_pmb. The service requires you to log onto the official website with your account information. You have the ability to pay online without logging into the system.
Auto pay: You can have your monthly Georgia Power automatically deducted from your saving or checking account. Georgia Power reads your meter and sends you a statement as to when the funds deduct from your account.
Pay in person: Georgia Power offers several convenient locations to pay your bill in person. Simply locate the office near you.

Pay by phone: You can pay your Georgia Power bill over the phone by using the third-party provider, BillMatrix. You provide the customer service representative with your account number and payment. The service is available 24 hour a day, seven day a week. Acceptable payments are electronic check, debit card or credit card. BillMatrix charges a $3.95 convenience fee per occurrence.

How the Penalty Fees Work
Georgia Power charges fees associated with past or overdue bills. The company also charges customers a security deposit with predetermined maximums.
Late fees: Georgia Power charges you a late fee equivalent to 1.5% of the total amount of your monthly bills greater than $100.
Security deposit: Georgia Power could potentially charge you 2.5% of your average monthly bill as a security deposit. The deposit is grouped into two tiers:
- Tier 1 – $100
- Tier 2 – $150
I Can’t Make a Payment
Georgia Power offers limited assistance to customers having trouble paying your bill. We spoke to customer service and they did not offer information regarding assistance. They informed us that assistance is on a customer by customer basis. The normal process involved is to first call customer service at 1-888-660-5890. When you speak to a customer service representative, they will direct you to the appropriate representative that handles payment arrangements.
Some of the options customer service did provide us with:
- Budget billing – This is available to customers with exceptional credit. Georgia Power averages your monthly usage and that is the amount you pay on a monthly basis.
- FlatBill – You simply pay a flat rate for 12 months.
- LIHEAP home energy assistance program – This program is available to qualified low-income customers. Upon approval, you will use the funds toward your heating or cooling expenses. We recommend you apply early due to limited funding.
