What To Do When You Can’t Pay Your Alagasco Bill

Alagasco is a natural gas provider serving central Alabama. Natural gas is often used to heat your home and water, cook your food and dry your clothes. There are three things that control the amount of your natural gas bill – usage, weatherization of your home, and weather. If you ever reach a point where you cannot pay your bill, here is how you can approach Alagasco to ensure your natural gas service remains uninterrupted.

How To Pay The Bill

Alagasco gives customers several different options to ensure bill payment is as convenient as possible for all consumers. You can pay your bill online, by mail, by bank draft or make a payment in person at one of its authorized payment locations while receiving either a paper bill or an electronic version of your bill. You can also opt for the Average Monthly Billing (AMB) plan. The AMB spreads your gas costs throughout the year:

  • The amount you pay is calculated each month.
  • To remain on AMB, you must pay the AMB amount in full each month.
  • When AMB is discontinued, any balance on the account is due at that time.
  • You will receive the greatest benefit with AMB if you stay on the plan year round.

Pay online: To To pay your Algasco bill online while getting an electronic copy of your bill, you will have to create an account with eBill and login to process the payment.

To pay your bill online while still receiving a paper copy of your bill, visit: https://paynow7.speedpay.com/alabamagas/index.asp. This service is provided through Western Union, and as such, a $3.95 fee per transaction or payment will apply. You will need your full account number to process the payment through Western Union.

Pay by mail: To pay your bill by mail, mail a check or money order with your payment slip from your bill to:

Automatic deductions: To pay your bill with Bank Draft, either enroll online with your account, or contact customer service to get started. You will have to provide your bank account and routing number, but this will ensure your bill is paid on time every month by automatically drafting the full payment amount. You will continue to receive a statement that shows your gas usage, the bill amount and when your payment will be deducted from your bank account. Bank draft is a free service provided by Alagasco.

To pay your bill in person: use Alagasco’s payment center locator to find an authorized payment agent near you. You will need to have your bill payment stub with you to process this payment. Payment agents are not able to place orders. Contact Alagasco if you have a pending disconnect order or if service has already been disconnected.

I Can’t Make A Payment

Alagasco makes it easy for you to make a payment arrangement. If you cannot pay your bill in full by the due date, contact Customer Service at 1-800-292-4008 or log in to eService to make a payment arrangement. Alagasco will attempt to establish a payment arrangement that is satisfactory to both you and the company.

Will They Work With Me To Pay My Bill?

Alagasco will work with you to pay your bill. In addition to making payment arrangements, there are assistance programs available. These programs are designed to supplement payments of elderly, disabled or low-income customers who would otherwise be unable to pay the total amount of their bill. Payment assistance programs that may be available include:

  • LIHEAP: a href=” https://allservicehelp.com/liheap/”>LIHEAP home energy assistance program is funded by the federal government. This program is designed to assist low-income Alagasco customers pay their heating and cooling costs. This grant is available year and requires customers to apply every year.
  • Customer charge waiver: If a customer currently receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the monthly customer charge will be waived in some cases.
  • ProjectSHARE: Energy relief from the American Red Cross open to customers 62 and older and low-income families.
