Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?

Have you seen an increase in fees from Missouri Gas and Electric that were not disclosed on the official website? If this is the case, we recommend you visit the Missouri Gas & Electric Customer Resource Page. For additional information regarding your billing statement or account, contact customer service at 1-800-582-1234.

How The Penalty Fees Work

The penalty fees for Missouri Gas and Energy are not listed on their website. At the time of this writing, we were not able to confirm the fees with customer service. We suspect there may be a late fee based on a percentage of the past due amount, applied to bills not paid in full by their due date. It is also likely there is a service restoration fee if service is disconnected due to non-payment.

I Can’t Make A Payment

If you cannot make your payment on time, contact customer service at Missouri Gas and Energy. The sooner before the bill is due, the better. They may be able to work with you to arrange a payment agreement that will enable you to keep your services while making payments on the bill amount. Customer service may also be able to provide information about local assistance programs to help cover the balance on the account.

If you find yourself frequently unable to manage your monthly payment, you may want to look into the Average Billing Calculation, or ABC plan. This is where the company takes a look at the last 12 months usage, and divides it into 12 monthly payments based on your average usage. This way your bill is the same every month and you do not have to worry about it being lower in the summer and higher in the winter. You may have a balance at the end of the year if your actual usage is more than what you paid for.

Federal Help for Low-Income Families: The LIHEAP Home Energy Assistance Program is a federally-funded program for low-income families. The program helps Missouri Gas and Energy customers pay energy bills if the energy is used to heat or cool the home.
