How the Penalty Fees Work

Similar to other electricity companies, WMECO charges service charges and fees to your monthly billing statement or account. The typical fees include security deposits, membership fees, returned check fees, reconnection fees and service call fees. All fees are added to your monthly WMECO bill.

  • Security deposit – WMECO charges a security deposit equivalent to two months worth of service.
  • Membership – $300 per year.
  • Retuned check fee – WMECO charges customers a $7 fee when your payment is returned from your financial institution for insufficient funds.
  • Reconnection – When your service is reactivated, WMECO charges you a fee or $30 to $120.
  • Service calls – When you need service, WMECO charges a fee or $33 per employee, for 30 minutes of work. Each additional 15 minutes is billed at $14 per employee.
