How the Penalty Fees Work

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission will charge penalty fees to your account if you pay your bill after the due date.

  • Returned check fee: $30 per instance.
  • Turn off fee: $60 (small meter); $160 (large meter).
  • Turn on fee: $60 (small meter); $160 (large meter).
  • Late payment fee: 5% of the total account balance due.

I Can’t Make a Payment

Contact the customer service department immediately at 1-800-634-8400. They will offer a hold or a payment arrangement.

  • Hold: Add 7 days to the due date.
  • Payment arrangement: Pay off past due balance and place the remaining balance on a payment plan.
