What To Do When You Can’t Pay Your USAA Bill

USAA is a bank for military servicemen and women, and their family members. They offer a wide variety of services including: checking and savings accounts, multiple types of insurance, mortgages, and credit cards.

How To Pay The Bill

USAA allows their customers to pay their credit card bills through an automatic transfer from their USAA bank account, through a one-time transfer from their USAA bank account, in person, by phone, and by mail.

To pay your USAA Bill through a bank transfer, login to your online banking account by visiting: https://www.usaa.com/inet/ent_logon/Logon and setup the transfer accordingly. If you only want to make a one-time payment, follow the steps for the transfer. If you want to set up automatic recurring payments so the bill is paid on the same day every month, you can set this up through your online account as well.

To pay your USAA bill by phone, dial customer service at: 1-800-531-USAA (8722).

To pay your USAA bill by mail, send payment to:

How The Penalty Fees Work

The penalty fees vary based on the type of credit card account you have through USAA bank. Generally, if you are late with a payment, you will have to pay a fee. This also includes payments that are less than the minimum amount due. Late payments may also trigger interest rate increases. If your payment is returned by your bank, you may have to pay an additional fee to the credit card company on top of what the bank will charge you. If you go over the limit, you may also have to pay a fee.

If you cannot make your USAA bill payment on time, you should speak to a customer service representative as soon as you realize you will not be able to make a payment. Typically, the more time you give customer service to work with, the better the results are. You may be able to work out a payment agreement to keep your account in good standing or qualify for a deferment based on protection programs if your credit card offers this option.
