How The Penalty Fees Work

The penalty fees vary based on the type of credit card account you have through USAA bank. Generally, if you are late with a payment, you will have to pay a fee. This also includes payments that are less than the minimum amount due. Late payments may also trigger interest rate increases. If your payment is returned by your bank, you may have to pay an additional fee to the credit card company on top of what the bank will charge you. If you go over the limit, you may also have to pay a fee.

I Can’t Make A Payment

If you cannot make your USAA bill payment on time, you should speak to a customer service representative as soon as you realize you will not be able to make a payment. Typically, the more time you give customer service to work with, the better the results are. You may be able to work out a payment agreement to keep your account in good standing or qualify for a deferment based on protection programs if your credit card offers this option. If you cannot make a payment though, you risk damaging your credit, and/or having your account sent to collections.
