Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?

United Power offers a bill image that explains the franchise fee, facility charge and sales taxes. Customer service is available at 1-800-468-8809 for additional fee-related questions.

How the Penalty Fees Work

United Power charges a security deposit for new members. The security deposit may be waived if the new customer passes a mini-credit check. Even if the new customer does not have to pay a security deposit, the cooperative may assess a security deposit if payments are made late or service is disconnected due to non-payment. Other fees may include:

  • Late payment fee
  • Returned check fee
  • Reconnection fee

I Can’t Make a Payment

United Power cooperative offers two payment options for customers having trouble making monthly energy payments. These services are in addition to the state LIHEAP program.

LIHEAP home energy assistance program: Customers that meet income guidelines will receive assistance to help pay your United Power bill. You can receive additional information from your local National Energy Assistance Referral Project (NEAR) by calling 1-866-674-6327.

Payment arrangements: United Power encourages cooperative members to call customer service at 1-303-637-1300 if they are unable to make this month’s payment. Payment arrangements are available and customer service has the option to change the due date if payment can be made within a few days of the due date.

Budget billing: Customers who want to plan out energy bills without worrying about spikes during peak seasons can sign up for the budget billing plan from United Power. The budget plan amount is taken from previously billed amounts so the customer must be a member of the cooperative for at least 6 months before signing up for budget billing.

High bill concern: If you are concerned about your bill being too high this month, United Power suggests the following considerations:

  • Longer than average billing period
  • Peak seasons require more energy to heat and cool
  • Appliances may not be energy efficient
  • Meter may be malfunctioning
