How the Penalty Fees Work
Suburban Propane charges fees for services as well as monthly and non-recurring fees. The monthly fees include regulatory fees, tank rental, transportation fees, restocking fees and close out fees. The monthly fees can increase depending upon the fluctuating price of fuel. The non-recurring fees include late payment fees, security deposits and returned check fees.
- Late payment – In the event Suburban Propane receives your payment past the due date, they charge customers a fee of 1.5% of the past due amount per month. Your service is terminated If the past due amount remains unpaid.
- Returned check – When your financial institution returns payment from insufficient funds, Suburban Propane charges a fee of $30 per instance.
- Regulatory fees – assessed to remain compliant with Federal regulations.
- Tank rental – covers the cost of the tank placed at the customers home.
- Transportation – covers the cost of transporting fuel from location to location.
- Restocking fee – This fee covers the cost of labor.
- Closeout fee – covers the cost of terminating a customer’s account.
I Can’t Make a Payment
Suburban Propane offers programs for customers that can’t pay your bill. The company realizes that financial hardships happen at a moment’s notice, so they are willing to work with each individual customer regarding your unique needs.
- Budget payment plan – Customers that can’t pay your Suburban Propane bill have the ability to set up past due amounts on a budget payment plan. The past due amount is divided into 12 equal monthly payments.
- Community Action Agencies – Suburban Propane provided us with information regarding Community Action Agencies. These services provide financial assistance in order to help customers pay your Suburban Propane bill. The list of agencies is available on the Suburban Propane website.
