What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Puget Sound Energy Bill
Puget Sound Energy, or PSE, is an electric company supplying classic energy, alternative energy and natural gas to customers in Washington state.
How to Pay the Bill
Before jumping into one of the following payment options, take note that some payments will be delayed. If you want to make a direct payment for a past due bill, contacting customer service at 1-888-225-5773 is the best bet. Many customers want to avoid customer service at all costs when payments are late, but paying directly through the representative will stop disconnection of service.
Pay online: You can pay your Puget Sound Energy bill online at https://my.pse.com/SUSO/Login.aspx. You will need to register for an account to make payment through the PSE website.
Pay immediately: For immediate credit to your Puget Sound Energy bill, customers should call 1-888-225-5773 to make payment. There is a charge of $4.95 for the transaction.
Pay by mail: Mailing payments takes longer, so customers need to send payments at least 5 to 10 business days before they are due for payment to be credited on-time. Earlier payments reduce the risk of late payment fees. Payments by personal check and money order should be mailed to:

Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?
Customers notice discrepancies on your Puget Sound Energy billing statement or acccount, but at times do not fully understand the charges. If you do not understand all of the charges, we recommend visiting the Puget Sound Energy Customer Care page. For additional information about your billing statement or account, we suggest contacting a customer service representative at 1-888-225-5773.
How Penalty Fees Work
Late payment fee: There is a 1% late payment fee added to your past due bill if payment is not made by the due date. Customers in the low-income group will be allowed a 30-day grace period before a late charge is added.
I Can’t Make a Payment
Customers need to call 1-888-225-5773 to request the budget billing plan or a payment arrangement.
- Budget payment plan: PSE offers a budget payment plan for customers who want an energy bill then can count on every month. The amount will be the same each month, but Puget Sound Energy will review the bill often to make sure the account is not being over-charged or under-charged.
- Payment arrangement: Customer service is ready and willing to break your account into smaller payments to help you make payments you can afford.
- LIHEAP: If you are having trouble paying your Puget Sound Energy bill and you meet low-income guidelines, you may qualify for the LIHEAP Home Energy Assistance Program. LIHEAP is funded by the federal government.
Will They Work With Me to Pay My Bill?
It looks like PSE or Puget Sound Energy is more than willing to work with customers to resolve past due bills, but looks can be deceiving. Only actual customers know whether or not the company truly works with customers to amicably resolve a delinquent account.
