What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your PSO Bill

PSO is an electric company based in Oklahoma. The parent company is AEP, an Ohio based energy company that services 38 states and portions of Canada. The companies currently under the AEP umbrella include:

  • AEP Ohio
  • AEP Texas
  • Appalachian Power (Virginia and West Virginia)
  • AEP Appalachian Power (Tennessee)
  • Indiana Michigan Power
  • Kentucky Power
  • Public Service Company of Oklahoma
  • Southwestern Electric Power Company (Arkansas, Louisiana and east Texas)

How to Pay the Bill

PSO provides several methods for customers to pay your monthly bill. The available services include online bill payments, one-time payments, automatic deductions, in-person payments, phone payments and mail payments.

Pay online: Customers can pay your PSO bill online by visiting https://www.psoklahoma.com/account/bills/Default.aspx. You simply need to register and submit your account information. Online bill payment is free.

Pay one-time: Customers can make a one-time payment on the PSO website. There is a convenience fee of $2.95 assessed to your bill.

Automatic deduction: Customers can pay with an automatic deduction from your checking or savings account.

Pay in person: In person payments can be made by visiting locations across several states. The complete list is available on the PSO website.

Pay by mail: Customers can pay your PSO bill by mailing payments to:

Pay by phone: Call customer service at 1-800-611-0964. You will be assessed a service fee of $2.95 when making a PSO bill payment by phone.

When you receive your monthly PSO billing statement or account, do you understand all of the service charges and fees? How the Penalty Fees Work

When we spoke to the PSO customer service representative, they did not disclose all of the service charges and fees assessed to your monthly billing statement or account. The fees they disclosed were the late payment fee and the meter testing fee.

  • Late payment – In the event your PSO payment is received past the due date, you are charged 1.5% of the past due amount.
  • Meter testing – If you need your meter tested, PSO charges a fee ranging from $48 to $81.

I Can’t Make a Payment

Are you having a financial hardship and can’t pay your PSO bill? The company is available to help and offers resources so you can pay your bill.

  • Payment extension – Customers can contact customer service at 1-888-216-3523 and request a payment extension. You can call either prior to receiving a disconnection notice or after the disconnection notice arrives.
  • LIHEAP – This federally-funded program is available to qualified low-income customers. You will need to contact customer service or your local National Energy Assistance Referral Project (NEAR) for information on how to apply at 1-866-674-6327.
