LIHEAP in Massachusetts
Living in a New England state means long, cold winters. LIHEAP is there to help low-income families make it through the winter without losing the precious electricity or gas needed to heat the home. LIHEAP is the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program funded by the US Department of Human Services. Funds are divvied out to states who then distribute those funds to residents who qualify based on income and family size. There are different income qualifications for each state. Massachusetts LIHEAP is based on 60% of the state median income, which is estimated at $100,058. Increased median income means residents can earn more and still qualify for LIHEAP.
