Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?
Have you noticed fees such as late payment fees, connection fees or returned check fees that KCP&L did not disclose? If you are needing further clarification, your should review the KCP&L Customer Resource Page. For additional information, contact customer service at 1-888-471-5275.
How the Penalty Fees Work
There is no mention of penalty fees on the KCP&L website, but we are quite certain the company charges similar fees to other electric companies, including late payment fees, disconnection fees, reconnection fees and returned check fees.
I Can’t Make a Payment
The disconnection policy for KCP&L was written in 1989, but it clearly states that customers can request a payment arrangement from the company if they can prove why timely payments cannot be made. This clause gives KCP&L the right to ask why payment cannot be made and, in some cases, the company may suggest ways to obtain the money needed to make your bill payment. However, payment arrangements are available from the company.
It is best to contact customer service before you receive your disconnect bill. By the time the disconnect notice is sent, your account has already incurred late charges.
