How to Pay the Bill

JEA provides several methods for customers to pay your bill, including, online bill payment, phone payment, mail payment, in-person payment. Acceptable methods of payment include credit and debit cards, cash, personal check, direct debit from your checking or savings account and cashier check.

Pay online: Customers can pay your JEA bill online by visiting https://onlineapps.jea.com/login/login.asp?reason=denied_empty&script_name=https%3A%2F%2Fonlineapps%2Ejea%2Ecom%2Fobp%2FAccountsListing%2Easp%3F. The service is free and only requires you to register your JEA account.

Pay by phone: Customers can pay your JEA bill by calling customer service at 1-904-665-6000. Acceptable methods of payments include credit, debit cards and direct debit from your checking or savings account. The service is offered through third-party vendor Bill2Pay. The company charges a $4.95 service fee with each transaction.

How the Penalty Fees Work

JEA charges customers fees on a monthly and a non-recurring basis. The fees include connection and reconnections fees, security deposits, service call fees and late payment fees.

  • Service calls – $25 per instance
  • Late payment – 1.5% for past due amounts
  • Reconnection – $115 for water; $400 for sewer
  • Returned check – $20 per instance
  • Connection – $10 to $25
  • Security deposit – depends on the credit history of the customer

I Can’t Make a Payment

Customers of JEA are eligible for payment assistance when you can’t pay your bill. The services provided include My Budget plan which averages your JEA bill and the JEA pay plan that extends your due date.

  • My Budget Plan – JEA averages your bill into equal amounts. This reduces the chance of seasonal fluctuations and lowers your monthly payment.
  • JEA Pay Plan – This service allows you to extend the date of your JEA bill payment. Customers should call customer service at 1-904-665-6000. This service is offered 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Other agencies – First Call, Northeast Florida Community Action Agency, Neighbor to Neighbor, Barnabes Center, St. Johns Welfare federation and St. Johns Catholic Charities.

The federal LIHEAP program provides money for energy bills for customers who qualify. Customers wishing to learn how to qualify for energy assistance with LIHEAP can call the local Department of Human Services.
