Traditional bill payments are sent via check through the mail. Delivery time is significantly longer so customers with a past due balance or a disconnect notice should not use traditional mail delivery to make a bill payment.

How the Penalty Fees Work

Harris Bank charges penalty fees for overdrawn accounts and stopped payments.

  • Overdraft fee: $32 per presented payment. Harris Bank will not charge the fee if the payment results in an overdraft of less than $5. A maximum of four charges will be assessed per day.
  • NSF fee: $32 per returned payment. A maximum of four payments will be charged per day. This fee is not applicable if the customer is denied an ATM or during a point of sale purchase.
  • Consecutive overdraft fee: $5 per day the account stays overdrawn.
  • Returned deposit: $7.50 per returned deposit. The customer may have to pay NSF or overdraft fees when the deposit amount is taken out of the account.

Harris Bank is not in business to help customers having temporary financial troubles. Will They Work With Me to Pay My Bill?

Harris Bank will not work with customers to pay past due bills. The local Department of Health and Human Services will work with low-income families and individuals to pay utility bills. The LIHEAP program is one low-income program. If you can’t cover the payments by personal check presented to your account, the overdraft or NSF fees will be withdrawn from your available balance immediately.
