Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?

Golden Valley Electric Association offers a complete list of fees that may be charged to your account on the Payments page. Customers can also contact a customer service representative at 1-907-452-1151 for more information about their bill.

How the Penalty Fees Work

If your bill has listed penalty fees, it could be because your payment was received late. Some of the fees assessed by GVEA include:

  • Dishonored check fee: $28 per dishonored check. This fee also applies to dishonored bank payments.
  • Late payment fee: Charged at a rate of 10.5% per year; no less than $2.
  • Collection fee: $5 (first notice); $32 (second notice).
  • Reconnect charges (scheduled): $51
  • Reconnect charges (Zone 1): $91 (same day before 3:30 PM); $284 (same day after 3:30 PM).

I Can’t Make a Payment

Alaska has some of the coldest winters in North America. If you cannot pay your bill, contact the customer service department at 1-907-452-1151. The representative will work with you to keep the lights and heat on while you pay off the past due balance.

There is no information on payment assistance on the GVEA website, but customers can contact the Department of Human Services for information on the LIHEAP program if they qualify for low-income assistance.
