What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Fairport Electric Bill
Fairport Electric is operated solely by the Fairport Municipal Commission. The village sets its own rates in accordance with applicable laws. More than 14,000 customers that live in the Village and Perinton area receive service from the Fairport Electric company.
How to Pay Your Bill
Pay online: Customer can pay your Fairport Electric online by visiting https://billing.fairportnyelectric.com/bpp/login.aspx. You must log on to the website and enter your user identification number, password and account information. Acceptable forms of payments are electronic check.
Pay by credit card: Customers wanting to pay you bill by credit card must call 585-223-0440. You must provide the customer service with your account information.
Pay in person: You can pay your Fairport Electric bill in person by visiting:

Fairport Electric does not list late payment fees and other service charges on the official website, but there is a document describing these fees written to the Office of the State Comptroller describing such fees. How the Penalty Fees Work
Fairport Electric assesses fees to customers for late payment of their bill as well as reconnection fees and security deposits.
- Security deposits – The average security deposit for customers starts at $50. The price increases for customer that have had unpaid balances over the course of their service. The amount could exceed twice their normal electric usage.
- Reconnection – Customers that have had their service disconnected are assessed a fee of $50. This amount is applied during normal working hours. The fee for reconnection during off hours is $75.
- Late payment – The fee assessed to customers that make a late payment is 1.5% of the monthly unpaid balance.
I Can’t Make a Payment
When we spoke to the customer service representative from Fairport Electric, they explained they did not have specific programs in place to assist customers that are having trouble paying their bill. They did disclose state-wide assistance programs.
- HEAP – The program is income-based and offers assistance with energy costs. HEAP offers initiatives that help reduce energy consumption, resulting in a lower Fairport Electric bill. The services include Assisted Multifamily Program, Weatherization Assistance Program and the Energy Star Program.
- LIHEAP: This federally-funded program provides financial assistance to customers that can’t pay your Fairport Electric bill. For questions regarding how to qualify for energy assistance with LIHEAP, you should contact the local National Energy Assistance Referral Project (NEAR) at 1-866-674-6327.
