What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Connexus Bill

Connexus is an electric company serving residential and commercial customers in Minnesota. Minnesota is a cold state and winter energy bills can skyrocket. Most cold states have laws in place to prevent energy companies from disconnecting service when temperatures are below freezing, but high energy bills can stack up making it hard to recover from the cold winter.

How to Pay the Bill

Electronic Payment: Customers can register for an online account and eBill through the Connexus website. This option eliminates the paper bill and gives customers access to online bill pay.

Automatic Billing: Enroll in the auto pay program if you want to have the total energy bill deducted from your payment method each month on the due date. This option requires money be available on the due date or a returned payment charge and late charge will be added to the account. Fees may also be charged by your bank for insufficient funds.

Phone Payments: Call 1-800-240-4199 to make a payment by phone. Payments are accepted from a checking account only. There is a maximum payment of $1,000 by phone. You’ll need your bank account number, routing number and account number at the time of your call. You will be charged a service fee of $3.95 per payment.

Online Payment: You can pay your Connexus bill online

This service is provided by Bill Matrix, a third-party payment processor. There may be a slight delay between the time you make payment and when payment is posted to your account. You should not use Bill Matrix if your account is past due or in disconnect status.
