How the Penalty Fees Work

Columbus Water Works charges several fees to customers. Some fees may be associated with late payments and others with starting new service or transferring service.

  • Connection fee: $25 – May be charged in addition to or in lieu of a deposit.
  • Connection fee (after hours): $35 – May be charged in addition to or in lieu of deposit.
  • Transfer service charge: $25 – Assessed for moving service from one address to another.
  • Delinquent charge: $30
  • Unauthorized use: $40
  • Returned check fee: Will be charged to customer accounts when a payment is returned for insufficient funds. If two checks are returned in any 12-month period, all future payments will be accepted by cash only.
  • Late payment fee: Also known as a delinquent charge. $30

I Can’t Make a Payment

Customer service can extend the payment due date if you find you cannot make your bill payment on time. Bills are due upon receipt, which means there is no grace period when paying Columbus Water Works bills.
