What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Coast Electric Bill

Coast Electric is a Touchstone electric company for residents of coastal Mississippi. Coast Electric is a cooperative so new residents must apply for membership before starting electric service with the company. The official website offers customers various payment options and online account access where they can make changes, view past energy usage and make payments.

How to Pay the Bill

Before choosing one of the following payment options to pay your pas due Coast Electric bills, contact the customer service department at 1-877-769-2372. The customer service representative may be able to take a payment and credit your account immediately.

Pay online: You can register for online account access at https://billing.coastepa.com/oscp/OnlineServices/FeaturesLogin/tabid/73/Default.aspx. From this account you can pay your Coast Electric bill online.

Pay at a local office or drop box: There is an entire page on the Coast Electric website dedicated to local offices and drop box locations. Local offices may offer immediate payment credit if your service is scheduled for disconnection.

Pay at local businesses: In addition to the local offices, there are three payment locations for customers to drop payments. These payment locations may not process payments immediately.

  • Rouse’s Supermarket – Diamondhead, MS
  • Country Corner – Corner of Beatline and 28th in Long Beach, MS
  • Coast Electric Headquarters – Kiln, MS

How the Penalty Fees Work

If you don’t pay your Coast Electric bill on-time, you will be subject to penalty fees. In some cases, electric cooperatives will wave late payment fees and other fees once per year if the customer requests a waiver in writing.

  • Membership fee: $5
  • Service charge: $35 for new service during normal business hours; $40 after hours
  • Collection fee: $30
  • Reconnect fee: $35 during normal business hours; $45 after hours
  • Late fee: $6
  • Returned payment fee: $30
  • Deposit: Average of two monthly bills or $250

I Can’t Make a Payment

If you can’t make a payment for your Coast Electric bill, your account balance may significantly increase. It is best to contact customer service at 1-877-769-2372 about payment plan options.

LIHEAP Home Energy Assistance Program : If Coast Electric provides your home with the energy it needs for primary heating and/or cooling, you may qualify for LIHEAP. LIHEAP is a low-income program, so you must apply for benefits and provide proof of income.
