What To Do When You Can’t Pay Your Banana Republic Bill

Banana Republic is a clothing brand and store, headquartered in San Francisco, CA. The original Banana Republic retail store sold travel-wear type clothing with a safari theme. They have since been bought out by The Gap, Inc., and have over 600 stores around the world. The Banana Republic offers their customers a BananaCard or a Banana Republic Credit Card Visa issued by GE Money Bank. Here are the perks the cards offer:

  • Exclusive offers and promotions

  • A Reward system that earns your 5 points for every $1 spent at Gap, Inc., stores, 1 point per $1 spent everywhere else towards a $10 Reward Card for earning 1,000 points
  • Spend $800 on your credit card and you automatically are upgraded to the ultimate cardmember status called the Luxe Card—with Luxe only offers, shopping events, and Triple Points Days

Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?

The Banana Republic credit card is associated with Gap. The Terms and Conditions list annual percentage rate, balance transfer fees and cash advance fees. A customer service representative is available at 1-800-234-7455 for a Banana Republic Card and 1-866-450-2330 for a Banana Republic Visa card.

How The Penalty Fees Work

Your bill is due at least 23 days after the close of each billing cycle. If you pay off your balance every month, there will be no interest charged. The current APR is 23.99%based on the Prime Rate. There doesn’t appear to be an Annual Fee, but the interest rate begins immediately upon using the card.

The Penalty Fees are $25 for a first time late payment, and $35 every time after that. The same is true for a returned payment, and an over-the-limit fee.

I Can’t Make A Payment

We were unable to contact customer service for information about how Banana Republic/GE Money Bank helps its customers who are behind on their credit card payments. The service seems to be outsourced, and they were unable to assist us. However there appear to be many forum postings that indicate GE Money Bank is not very helpful to customers when it comes to penalty fees or interest, or for working with their customers on a payback schedule.

Will They Work With Me To Pay My Bill?

Have you had any experience working with Banana Republic and GE Money Bank to pay off your BananaCard or Banana Republic Visa? We would love to hear about your experiences so as to help other customers pay off the Banana Republic credit card debt.
