How the Penalty Fees Work
Dekalb Water and Sewer recently added a long list of fees associated with disconnections and non-payment. Cut-off fees may be avoided if a customer contacts the customer service department to place a past due balance on a payment plan, but late payment fees may still apply.
- Late payment fee: 10% of the total past due balance.
- First cut-off fee for non-payment: $45
- Subsequent cut-off fee for non-payment: $50
Other fees not listed on the tariff and rate pages may include returned check fee and disconnect fee.
I Can’t Make a Payment
Dekalb Water and Sewer offers a payment arrangement for customers having trouble making payment. According to the customer service statement, it is best for customers to contact customer service before they receive a disconnect notice. All past due balances must be placed on a payment arrangement plan before the disconnect date to protect service. The payment arrangement amount will be billed in addition to current charges.
