If you need to file a claim with American Family Medicare Insurance, simply present your insurance card at the time care is provided. All claims are processed as Medicare claims, but the supplemental insurance is used to cover some of the cost – as defined during the underwriting process. If your American Family Medicare plan involves an additional premium, you can pay your bill via the payment page on the website here http://www.amfam.com/payments/. Payment options include direct debit, mail payments and online billing and payments. Not all payment options are available for American Family Medicare Insurance, so contact your agent or the customer service department for more information on payment options for health insurance premiums.
Coverage Details
American Family Insurance offers one medical plan for Medicare recipients.
Medicare Supplement Plan: If you are currently receiving Medicare A or Medicare B, you may be eligible for Medicare Supplement Insurance from American Family. When you contact the agent, you will be given an outline of available coverage details based on the state in which you live. There is also a buyer’s guide and an application. The policy allows Medicare recipients to choose the doctor they want to see and add additional coverage based on personal healthcare needs. There may be an added premium, on top of the Medicare premium, for additional coverage through American Family Medicare Insurance.
Medicare Supplement insurance is not available in all states. According to the American Family Insurance website, coverage is available in “Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah and Wisconsin.”
