What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Kingsport Power Bill
Kingsport Power operates through AEP Appalachian Power. Service is provided to customers living in Tennessee.
How to Pay the Bill
Customers can choose to pay their bill online, but traditional payment options like phone payments and mail payments are still accepted. Mail payments are the slowest to process so payments with a short due date should not be sent through the mail.
Pay online: Pay your Kingsport Power bill online at https://www.appalachianpower.com/account/bills/pay/. Have your bill ready when registering. You’ll also need a valid email address.
Pay with BillMatrix: Customers can choose to make a one-time payment through BillMatrix if they don’t want to register for online account access. BillMatrix charges a service fee of $2.95 per payment. Phone payments are also accepted by BillMatrix at 1-800-611-0964.
Pay by mail: Mail payments can be sent to the Canton, Ohio address if the return envelope is no longer available. If you need to send your payment overnight, use the physical address.

Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?
Some of the questions customers have about fees and service charges may be answered by the Kingsport Power Rates and Tariffs page. Fees not listed on this page can be explained by customer service at 1-800-956-4237.
How the Penalty Fees Work
Penalty fees are charged by Kingsport Power when customers break the terms and conditions set forth by the company when service is provided.
- Late payment fee: 1.5% of the past due account. This fee is presented as a discount rather than a fee. If the customer pays within 15 day of the billing date, they receive a 1.5% discount. Otherwise, they must pay the 1.5% as a late payment fee.
I Can’t Make a Payment
There are many Kingsport Power customers who have financial troubles from time to time. The best option is to contact the customer service department at 1-800-956-4237.
Payment Extension: Call 1-800-956-4237 to ask for a payment extension. The company will extend the due date to give you more time to pay so you don’t lose electric service.
Dollar Energy Fund: Low-income payment assistance program to help ease the burden of electric bills.
LIHEAP: The Low Income Energy Home Energy Assistance program is available in all 50 states. Customers must meet income guidelines.
Third-Party Notification: Place the phone number on your account for a third-party. They will be notified if your bill is late, but they won’t be obligated to pay the bill.
