How to Pay the Bill

The available payment options provided by Granite State Electric included online bill payments, in-person payments, mail payments and phone payments. The majority of the services are free. The one payment options subjected to a convenience fee is phone payments.

Automatic deduction: Do you want to avoid late payment fees? Set up recurring payments from your checking or savings account.

Western Union/SpeedPay: A third-party alternative to traditional bill payments is Western Union or SpeedPay. Both locations accept credit cards and debit cards. Customers incur a $2.25 fee for using this service.

How the Penalty Fees Work

Several of the fees associated with your Granite State Electric billing statement or account include late payment charges, returned check payments and reconnection fees. We suspect the company also assesses security deposits, disconnection charges and possibly service fees.

Late payment – 1.5% of the past due balance is added to your current balance

Returned check – $10

Reconnection – in order to reconnect service, you will need to pay all past due balances

I Can’t Make a Payment

When you are having difficulty paying your bill, Granite State Electric gives customers several payment assistance programs to choose from. The programs include:

  • LIHEAP – This service is funded by the federal government, with funds dispersed to the state. In order to qualify, you must meet certain financial requirements. We suggest you apply early due to limited funds.
  • Payment extensions – Call customer service at 1-888-211-1313 and ask about payment extensions. You can move the payment up to 10 days past the original due date.
  • Payment arrangement – After calling customer service, you can set up your account on a payment arrangement. Customer service allows you to pay your past due balance in smaller portions.
