What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your UPMC Bill

How to Pay the Bill
Patients receiving care from UPMC have the option of paying bills online. Online bill pay is available for all providers working under the UPMC umbrella. You’ll need your medical bill to make payment online.
Pay online: You can pay your UPMC bill online at https://paybill.upmc.com. You’ll need to select the type of service provided and the provider to make a payment. For instance, if you have a medical bill, choose the Medical option from the Type of Bill drop-down menu. Next, you’ll have to choose the provider you wish to credit with payment. There is a long list of providers available for UPMC bills. Once you’ve chosen a provider, you’ll be asked for the patient name, account number, payer name, payer phone number, payment amount and payment information. A valid email address is required to make payment online.
Pay by mail: You can mail your payment to the address listed on your bill. The address should include the name of the facility where payment is due. Some medical procedures will result in multiple bills from different providers, so always make sure to send payment to the provider and address listed on the bill. Never send cash payments through the mail.
Pay by phone: Phone payments are processed at different facilities. If you need a contact number, follow the steps for online payment and scroll to the bottom of the page on the payment page that requests patient and payer information. There should be a phone number listed for customer service.

If your medical bills are more than you can afford in a one-time payment, contact the provider and set-up a payment plan. Most health care providers offer a payment option for patients who cannot afford to make on lump sum payment. Remember, you’ll have to contact each provider separately as UPMC does not bill all services on the same bill, in most cases.
