I Can’t Make a Payment
Tampa Electric customer service has a bad reputation for long wait times and automated customer service. When we called, the system was automated and we waited 20 minutes before hanging up the phone. There is information online about payment arrangements, but customer complaints reveal the company is not easy to work with when trying to resolve a past due bill.
Payment arrangements: Customers can fill out an online form to request payment arrangements from Tampa Electric. Processing the online form takes longer than a phone application. If you need immediate help, contact customer service at 1-888-223-0800 for more information. Customer service can move the due date of your bill if you are having temporary money problems, or they can set-up payment arrangements for the outstanding balance. If the payment arrangement is not completed, Tampa Electric reserves the right to deny payment arrangements in the future. Customers must:
- Have the 11-digit account number handy.
- Have the social security number of the person responsible for the bill.
- Pay the payment amount in full each month.
- Pay the current charges on time each month.
LIHEAP: How to qualify for energy assistance with LIHEAP? Customers of Tampa Electric are encouraged to contact customer service at 1-888-223-0800 for income guidelines or contact your local LIHEAP office for further information.
