How the Penalty Fees Work

Salt River Project charges several fees based on credit rating and account activity.

  • Security deposit: The average security deposit for Salt River Project is $275. Some customers may have this fee waived if they have a good credit score.
  • Late payment fee: If your account balance is not paid by the due date listed on your bill, Salt River Project will assess a late payment fee. If payment is not made by the 28th day after the due date, the company reserves the right to discontinue service at any time.
  • Returned check fee: If check payments processed by a third-party provider are returned, Salt River Project will charge a return check fee. If the customer continues to post insufficient funds, the company will place the account in cash-only status.

I Can’t Make a Payment

  • Payment arrangements: Customers must contact customer service to arrange a payment plan before service is disconnected. Customer service advised us that plan arrangements are determined on a case-by-case basis based on previous account activity and total amount due. Contact customer service at 1-800-258-4777.
  • Economy Price Plan: Customers meeting certain income guidelines are eligible for a $17 credit per month. The credit adds up to $204 in savings per year. Eligibility requirements are based on gross income per month.

  • Five people: $3,272
  • Six people: $3,749
  • M Power: M Power allows customers to control energy bills and eliminate monthly charges. The program requires a unit to be placed in the home. Customers re-charge the unit with money as needed.
  • LIHEAP: LIHEAP home energy assistance program is available for qualified low-income customers of Salt River Project. This program provides federal grant money to customers so you may pay your heating and cooling costs during the months on November and March.
