What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Kenergy Bill
Kenergy is an electric company serving Henderson, Owensboro, Hanson, Hartford, Hawesville and Marion, Kentucky.
How to Pay the Bill
Customers can choose from several options for making Kenergy bill payments. The best option for customers unable to make payment by the due date or customers facing disconnection is to call customer service at 1-800-844-4832.
Pay online: You can pay your Kenergy bill online via https://coopcrm.com/crm/wwsyisi1?qzcoid=KE. You must have a password to access online bill pay. This password is available after you register for online account access. After registration, you must enter your Kenergy account number to make payment.
Pay by credit card: Credit card payments are accepted in person and by phone. Customers can call 1-800-844-4832 to make a phone credit card payment.
Pay with bank draft: Bank draft payments are processed automatically. Contact customer service to place your Kenergy bill on an automatic payment plan. The total amount due each month will be deducted from your bank account on the due date. Customers will pay the net amount each month. If payment is returned for insufficient funds, there will be a late payment charge and a returned payment charge added to your bill.
Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?
Questions about fees, including fuel adjustment riders, membership fees and deposits are addressed in the Kenergy Tarriffs document. Any fees not listed in this document can be explained by customer service at 1-800-844-4832.
How the Penalty Fees Work
If customers cannot make a payment by the due date, Kenergy will assess a late payment charge. This charge may be avoided if you contact customer service to place your bill on a payment plan before it becomes past due.
- Late payment fee: Your Kenergy bill will list two payment amounts. The net amount is the amount you pay if you can make payment by the due date. If you are late, the gross amount applies. The gross amount is 5% greater than the net bill.
I Can’t Make a Payment
Kenergy understands things come up and customers sometimes find they are unable to make payment for an energy bill on-time. It is best to contact customer service before service is disconnected for available payment options.
- Partial payment plan: Call customer service before your service is interrupted to place your past due balance on a payment plan. Customers agree to make plan payments in addition to current charges. If you default on the payment plan, Kenergy may not allow the past due balance to be placed on a new payment plan and service interruption may occur.
- WinterCare Energy Fund: Customers must contact Pennyrile Allied Community Services or Audubon Community Services to apply for assistance. This program is funded by Kenergy customers and employees.
The United States government supplies money to all 50 states for the LIHEAP home energy assistance program. LIHEAP requires applicants meet low-income guidelines before receiving energy assistance. In order to qualify, you must use your Kenergy services to heat or cool your home.
Will They Work With Me to Pay My Bill?
Kenergy offers a payment plan for customers facing temporary financial trouble. This payment plan does not stop current bills, so it is important to control energy usage and maintain a current account until all payments under the payment arrangement are made in full.
